US History Club Meeting
This is a flyer for a new club being organized at a High School for US History students, as requested by the principal. The flyer was created in Microsoft Word on a flyer template. The flyer needed to include the organization, time and date of the meetings, contact information, and motivation for the students. In essence the flyer promotes a US History Club which will be a fun and interactive club that helps to prepare students for the US History Regents at the end of the year, while rewarding them throughout the year for participation within the club by awarding them with H.W. passes for certain number of meetings attended. I chose US History Club since I am a history major and it could easily become a fun class that slowly prepares for the regents throughout the year by reinforcing what has been learned in class, in order to avoid cram sessions close to the regents.
Parent Newsletter
As a teacher it is important that you keep parents informed about what is going on in their child's classroom. Using glogster.com, we created an online newsletter to let the parents know major events occurring during that week, month or year. I created a US History Newsletter to inform the parents of 5 major events occurring for the students this school year. The newsletter highlights the US History Club which has weekly meetings to reinforce what was learned in the classroom while reviewing for the regents at the end of the year. The newsletter also highlights two field trips the students will be going on this year, they are going on an overnight trip to Philadelphia and Valley Forge and a trip to a Civil War Reenactment at Museum Village in Monroe, NY. The overnight field trip will include exciting tours such as Independence Hall After Dark and Secrets and Spies. The newsletter also gives the parents information about a student-run assembly on MLK Jr, and his life and impacts on the US. Concluding the newsletter is information on the US History Regents for the parents and students alike. But don't worry, the kids will be well prepared from all their learning experiences throughout the year!
